Having Fun with Goldfish Crackers Games  #GoldfishMoments

Let’s talk about special moments for a minute and about how that one on one time we spend with our kids mean so much. As a parent of a high function Autistic child, it's moments like this that I look forward to. We love games in our home, and I wanted to show some of the fun goldfish crackers games we do to keep him smiling and learning.

As the weather changes and we go from nice sunny days, to cool rainy days, I have to continuously come up with ways to keep him entertained and keep his attention going. We love games in our home, and he enjoys them too; but there are times when he simply wants mommy to play with him, and that’s fine by me!

I love my one on one moments with each of my kids, but seeing my son develop, grow, and surprise us every day is why we love coming up with family games. What makes it fun for us is that the games we come up with during our one on one time always changes and it is never the same.

Last school year, we were into maps and countries of the world; this school year, he loves his math! He also loves games that include the time as well, and because this is something he loves doing with me, I love to come up with games that I know he is going to enjoy.

If you are looking for some fun game ideas that you and your kids are going to enjoy, I have a few I would love to share with you, and you know what it won’t cost you much. All you need is your favorite animal or fish crackers; we use Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® crackers and some paper.

(We created our games on our computer because they keep changing. He can also go and print the game he wants to play. Since his focus always changes, it is easy for us to edit the games.)

During these games, we use Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® crackers because we both enjoy them, and when he has some leftovers from his school lunch, he loves to eat them while we play games. This is a reason why we sometimes use goldfish crackers in our games, it's because it keeps his attention and makes him enjoy the activity.

Goldfish Crackers Games Ideas

Keeping games simple and competitive is what he is enjoying at this stage of his life. Again, numbers and times are his big thing right now, and these games keep him entertained and engaged.

Fill the Circle

Fill the circle game is a game that you can play however you want. For example, today he wanted to use a time watch and see how fast he can fill the circle and try to beat his time again. Another way he played this game was by only selecting red color goldfish crackers and trying to beat his time.

Since the bag was half way gone, we couldn’t fill the circle up this time, this explains why the circle was not full in the photo. When we fill the circle up, we estimate how many goldfish crackers are in the circle. The person with the closest number wins.

Goldfish Math

Math is one of his favorite subjects in school. He is now getting math homework, and his teacher is excited about how well he is doing with this new program. To help him with his homework, and help him to continue to grow his love for math, we created a game called Goldfish Math.

The game is quite simple, and because we have it saved in our computer, the math equations change. He adds the numbers with goldfish, and that’s it!

Tic Tac Toe

Though this game has no numbers, he enjoys playing this game fast, and he loves counting his goldfish crackers. The good news about playing Tic Tac Toe is that he practices hand movements and it keeps him focused as well as improve his fine motor skills. He also loves to come up with strategies to win, and every time we do this game, he gets better and better.

At the end of the games, he gets to enjoy his goldfish crackers with mom, it's like winning a gold medal! Look, it's simple moments like this that we will always remember. To appreciate everything that he has learned and overcome these past years and seeing him flourish, it's the greatest thing ever!

These games don’t require anything fancy; it simply requires your time and dedication to these games. Our sessions might not last long, but they are so worth it; this is why I wanted to share my #GoldfishMoments with you all.
