Start Before You Get Pregnant

If you are thinking about having a baby….give your doctor a call. Double check that your flu and whooping cough (pertussis) vaccinations are up to date.

Your doctor can check and make sure ALL of your vaccinations are current before you start trying to conceive.

This will start your pregnancy off on the right foot. The CDC has a list of 10 helpful tips that can help start your pregnancy off on the right foot.

The Flu & Whooping Cough Can Cause Serious Problems

Many people assume the flu is no big deal…that is a totally wrong assumption. The flu and whooping cough can cause serious issues during pregnancy and can even affect the baby.

You can get the flu even if it isn't flu season. It is better to be protected year round if there is a baby involved. The good part if that the flu vaccine will protect your baby when they are born for several months.

Typically doctor's recommend that a woman get a Tdap vaccine for whooping cough during the third trimester.

Don't Take a Chance on Your Baby's Health

Your baby's health is too important to take a chance on. Flu and whooping cough are serious and you don't want to risk your baby becoming ill, developing a birth defect or being born prematurely.
