A few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to make us some Coconut Macaroons or as we call it here Besitos de Coco but once I noticed that we had some hazelnut spread around I decided that maybe I needed to up this recipe even more. This is how you make Hazelnut Spread Coconut Macaroons.

We love Nutella in our house, not just one person, the entire family. I grew up with Nutella thanks to my grandma and my husband loves it all thanks to me. The problem was that our Nutella jar was empty and I had another brand hazelnut spread (Aldi brand and did I tell you how much I hate Aldi?).

Can you add Nutella to this recipe? The answer is yes. Yes, you can! The reason I didn’t well was that I didn’t have any left thanks to my family.

Now a word of caution when you use any hazelnut spread; they don’t all taste the same. If you are using another brand of hazelnut spread that is not Nutella, you might have to either add less or add more to the mix. It all depends on how sweet you want it and the taste you want.

Some hazelnut spreads are sweeter than others, and other hazelnut spreads are less sweet. This means that you might want to tone it down a bit or add more.

Again it all depends on you. In this recipe, I didn’t want the hazelnut spread to overpower the coconut taste, so I added less than my 2 tablespoons.

This is so simple to make and basically just like making coconut macaroons and add the hazelnut spread. That’s it!

  • 14 ounces shredded Coconut Flakes (5 1/2 cups)

Add the designated amount of hazelnut into the mix. Again, it all depends on how you want it. I felt that his hazelnut spread was too sweet so I cut back a bit.
